A materialized view is a special type of view that stores a copy of the query results and is periodically refreshed (or manually refreshed) to ensure that the data remains up-to-date. Unlike regular views, which are virtual tables that require recalculation each time they are accessed, materialized views contain a physical copy of the data. This allows direct querying of the materialized view without the need for complex SQL queries, significantly improving query performance by trading space for speed. For more information about the principles of materialized views, see Materialized views.
In OceanBase Developer Center (ODC), after accessing the SQL console, you can click the Materialized Views tab under the database in the left-side navigation pane to view the list of materialized views. To view the data of a materialized view, double-click the name of the materialized view in the list to go to the view management page. On this page, you can view the data of the materialized view on the Data tab or view the basic information, columns, and DDL statements of the view on the Properties tab.
ODC supports materialized views of OceanBase Database tenants in MySQL and Oracle modes. The OceanBase Database version must be V4.3.5.2 or later.
This chapter describes the operations you can perform on view objects in ODC.
