Feature enhancements
Comprehensive support for migration and synchronization between Alibaba Cloud and OceanBase Cloud is now available, including migration and synchronization between OceanBase instances on Alibaba Cloud, RDS/PolarDB MySQL instances, self-managed MySQL/Oracle databases, and OceanBase instances on OceanBase Cloud.
Database changes: Supports one-time or periodic execution of user-created SQL scripts to address the pain point of time-consuming changes timing out and to meet the need for periodically executing fixed SQL statements. Common application scenarios include, but are not limited to, adding indexes to large tables, batch modifying data in large tables, and regularly executing stored procedures.
Optimization of alert object classification: Unified the alert object types for Data Services, supporting alert configuration for tasks such as data migration, data lifecycle, and data import.
Optimized the monitoring metric for disk I/O usage on cluster hosts.
AWS and GCP now support sending alert messages via Telegram.

This release introduces significant new features for analytical instances, including data development capabilities. Users can now create workspaces for analytical instances to perform data development tasks. Additionally, the new AI for Data feature debuts SQL Copilot, which can automatically generate and rewrite SQL statements based on natural language input, significantly improving SQL development efficiency and success rate. For cross-cloud disaster recovery, OceanBase Cloud further enhances its primary-standby cluster instance foundation by providing cross-cloud data migration, supporting real-time data synchronization between OceanBase instances on different clouds and MySQL or Oracle databases.
New features
SQL Audit product launch
- The SQL audit feature provides complete recording and comprehensive search capabilities for SQL execution in OceanBase databases. It is an indispensable capability for many customers and is crucial for data changes, structural changes, and security prevention. Due to regulatory and compliance requirements, the original default maximum of 30 days could not meet business security needs, as many customers expect long-term retention of SQL records for auditing purposes. The SQL Audit product is officially launched, supporting user-selected retention periods from 7 days to 720 days.
New capabilities
Cross-cloud and cross-region data migration
- Supports cross-cloud migration between AWS, GCP, and Huawei Cloud on the international site, and between Huawei Cloud and Tencent Cloud on the domestic site. Supports real-time data migration across regions within the same cloud for all existing data sources.
Data archiving
- Added support for data archiving from MySQL to OceanBase MySQL instances and from self-managed OceanBase to OceanBase instances.
Data warehouse development
- Added a data development module, allowing users to create workspaces based on business needs. Each workspace can be bound to an AP instance. The workspace provides capabilities such as workbook management, sample dataset import, and SQL Editor. The SQL Editor, in addition to providing common SQL development and result set processing, also offers AI-assisted SQL writing and query result set visualization capabilities.
Anomaly detection and root cause analysis
- Added anomaly detection, covering various scenarios such as excessive tenant SQL queue wait times and high tenant CPU usage. It also provides root cause analysis capabilities for anomalies, including major compaction issue analysis, active session issue analysis, and memory issues, helping users quickly locate and resolve problems.
Ecosystem integration
Added ecosystem integrations with Grafana, dbt, Airflow, Glue, Datagrip, and Tableplus.
The international site now adds integration with Datadog. Users can use Datadog to monitor dedicated instances on OceanBase Cloud. Datadog provides a Software as a Service (SaaS) platform for cloud infrastructure monitoring and application performance management. The integration between Datadog and OceanBase Cloud facilitates comprehensive monitoring of OceanBase instances and their related infrastructure, including performance metrics, infrastructure status, and alert events.
Usability improvements
Binlog Service
- Added a Binlog Service management page, supporting management operations such as managing Binlog subscription information, rate limiting, and throttling. It also supports viewing monitoring information such as Binlog conversion delay, RPS, sending delay, and sending RPS.
Data migration
- Operations related to data migration tasks (creating tasks, pausing tasks, resuming tasks, modifying timestamps, etc.) are now integrated with the console's historical event management.
- Added pattern matching rules for selecting data migration objects in the data migration object configuration, simplifying the user interaction for selecting objects in batch migrations.
- Supports users modifying data migration task parameter configurations (incremental sync start timestamp, whether to postpone index creation, incremental DDL/DML configurations, etc.), meeting scenarios where business needs require custom task configuration adjustments.
Monitoring capability optimization
- Building upon the average RT monitoring data for various SQL request types in transactional instances, the display of P90/P95/P99 percentiles for the RT of these SQL request types has been added. Additionally, the display of P90/P95/P99 percentiles for the RT of various request types on OceanBase Key-Value instances has been added, making it more intuitive and easier for O&M personnel to compare related monitoring data.

Huawei Cloud Marketplace (overseas)
This iteration officially launches OceanBase Cloud on the Huawei Cloud Marketplace (General SaaS). You can now use OceanBase Cloud as a customer of Huawei Cloud's overseas platform.
Cross-cloud primary/standby databases
Building upon its same-cloud, cross-region disaster recovery capability, OceanBase Cloud has released the significant new feature of cross-cloud primary/standby databases. It currently supports setting up cross-cloud primary/standby setups from Alibaba Cloud to AWS and from Alibaba Cloud to Huawei Cloud, meeting your high-availability disaster recovery needs across clouds and regions, and significantly enhancing your business's disaster recovery capability.
SQL Audit
Users can now customize and enable SQL audit to further improve platform security and compliance (this feature is paid).
Data services
- Data Archiving: Added support for archiving MySQL data to an OceanBase MySQL instance, and for archiving self-managed OceanBase data to an OceanBase instance.

This release introduces a new product type—KV instances (HBase compatibility mode and Table compatibility mode). It also lists the analytical cluster instance on GCP Marketplace, supporting the purchase of analytical cluster instances on Huawei Cloud through the OceanBase Cloud console. It supports features like cross-cloud primary/standby databases and database proxies, and upgrades capabilities such as alert management and permission management.
This iteration also brings major improvements and upgrades to OceanBase Cloud's real-time data migration, intelligent diagnostics, and cloud service security: it provides data migration from GCP's MySQL and CloudSQL instances to OceanBase, offering one-stop support for migrating self-managed OceanBase to the cloud. For instance diagnostics, it adds analysis and diagnostics for instance capacity and usage trends. New roles for data read/write and data services administrators are introduced, providing finer-grained control over cloud service security access.
New product type - KV
OceanBase Cloud has launched a significant new product type—KV instances (HBase compatibility mode and Table compatibility mode), enriching OceanBase Cloud's capability to handle NoSQL scenarios and supporting the creation of OceanBase Key-Value instances on Huawei Cloud.
Analytical instance feature upgrade
- Listed GCP Marketplace.
- Supports purchasing analytical cluster instances on Huawei Cloud through the OceanBase Cloud console.
- AP instance migration enhancement: Migration to OLAP instances now supports configuring and automatically converting column store properties for table structures.
- Supports configuring alert rules separately for AP-type instances. This release also introduces the alert contact notification group feature, improving the usability of alert management.
New data-related roles
Expands OceanBase Cloud's role model by adding data-related roles and refining access control, further enhancing platform security. This release introduces the Data Read/Write Administrator and Data Services Administrator roles, corresponding to read/write permissions for SQL windows and SQL audit, respectively; and operational permissions for various tasks under Data Services. This separates the operational role of an instance administrator from data operation and data service operation roles, meeting the security requirements of different customer organizations and business scenarios. Notably, to ensure service continuity, existing instance administrators will automatically be granted all three roles: Instance Administrator, Data Read/Write Administrator, and Data Services Administrator. Project administrators can then add or remove different roles based on actual needs.
Cross-cloud primary-standby database disaster recovery
- This release supports creating a standby instance on AWS for Alibaba Cloud instances, enabling cross-cloud disaster recovery.
- When the primary-standby relationship is no longer needed, you can disassociate the primary and standby databases to make them two independent instances.
New database proxy
This release introduces the new database proxy feature, making it convenient for you to configure access, address management, and other settings for instances and their tenants.
Single-IDC deployment mode upgrade
Supports single-IDC three-replica deployment and single-IDC two-node deployment solutions. You can choose different deployment schemes based on your actual usage scenarios. If you need to reduce costs, you can choose the single-IDC two-node deployment scheme; if you have requirements for latency and computing power, you can choose the single-IDC three-replica deployment scheme.
Data migration
- OceanBase Cloud now provides a one-stop data migration service for GCP for the first time, supporting data migration between Cloud SQL and self-managed MySQL on GCP.
- Added support for migrating self-managed OceanBase clusters to the cloud and synchronizing cloud instances to on-premises self-managed OceanBase clusters, providing data transfer support for hybrid cloud scenarios. This feature is available on Huawei Cloud, Tencent Cloud, and overseas AWS and GCP.
Backup and recovery
- Backup download: Supports downloading backup sets at the cluster and tenant levels, bridging the cloud-to-on-premises pathway.
Autonomous diagnostics
- Added capacity diagnostics: Through the capacity diagnostics feature, users can obtain real-time resource usage and trends for clusters, tenants, databases, tables, and indexes, quickly identify potential capacity risks, and take timely actions such as scaling to ensure stable system operation.
- SQL diagnostics:
- Added TopSQL diagnostics support for OceanBase KV-type instances.
- Added support for SQL templates.
- Improved the display of optimization history by supplementing and perfecting operation records such as killing sessions and flushing plan cache.
Other feature optimizations
Alert management optimization: Expanded platform observability: Incorporated abnormal events diagnosed by SQL diagnostics, such as slow SQL and performance-degrading SQL, as well as database backup abnormal events, into alert rules, allowing users to configure alerts.
Resource tag management: Helps users classify, search, and aggregate cloud resources with shared characteristics from different dimensions, making resource management easier.
In-Place configuration change: Added the in-place configuration change method, which takes less time compared to the previous migration-based configuration change.

This release introduces new features including remote primary-standby databases, resource isolation, and lifecycle management. It also upgrades the historical events feature, launches integrated data source capabilities, and adds integrations with Informatica, Kafka, and PowerBI products.
Remote primary-standby databases
- Enhanced business security and disaster recovery: OceanBase Cloud cluster instances support deployment across dual/multiple IDCs or availability zones to provide city-level disaster recovery capabilities. With the introduction of remote primary-standby databases, this capability is further enhanced to cross-region disaster recovery, ensuring business continuity and stability.
Resource isolation
- Optimized resource allocation: By allocating independent resources to different database instances, you can flexibly perform CPU resource isolation and reservation based on users on the instances. This prevents resource contention from impacting critical business operations and optimizes overall resource utilization.
- Enhanced isolation: Instances do not affect each other. This release introduces resource isolation between tenants and within a tenant.
Historical events feature upgrade
After this upgrade, you can more comprehensively view the operations and configuration processes of cloud instances, tenants, databases, various tasks, and policies (such as alert configurations).
Lifecycle management
Data archiving is now available, supporting archiving operations for OceanBase Cloud instances in the same tenant mode. It supports archiving by database and by table. Archiving by table also provides flexible variable definition, filtering conditions, partition conditions, and target table specification capabilities to handle complex archiving scenarios. Additionally, this feature offers both active and passive throttling methods. Active throttling automatically limits the rate based on the CPU and memory load of the source and target, while passive throttling limits the archiving speed according to user-specified throttling parameters, ensuring the stability of the archiving process.
Data cleanup capability is now available, supporting data cleanup operations for OceanBase Cloud instances. It supports cleanup by database and by table. Similar to data archiving, data cleanup also provides flexible condition configuration capabilities and comprehensive throttling capabilities.
Integrated data source
The newly launched data source feature supports entering information for OceanBase, MySQL, and Oracle data sources from different cloud vendors and regions. This foundational capability is essential for modules such as data migration, data archiving, and data cleanup, allowing database connection configuration information to be reused.
Ecosystem integrations
This release adds support for Informatica, Kafka, and PowerBI, providing integration methods and examples.

This release completes a major upgrade to the integrated form of OceanBase Cloud services, providing comprehensive enhancements in backup and recovery, data import, monitoring and alerting, diagnostics, and tuning. A significant new OLAP product form—cluster instance (analytical)—is also released, offering one-stop platform support for analytical instances from data migration to development management and backup and recovery.
Service launch and listing
- New Regions: Three new regions have been added on AWS: Frankfurt, Hong Kong, and Jakarta. GCP has added Singapore.
- Support for ordering Huawei Cloud instances via OceanBase Cloud is now available, making POC testing more convenient for more Huawei Cloud customers.
New analytical (OLAP) cluster instances
You can create cluster instances (analytical) on Huawei Cloud and AWS to meet your analytical business needs.
- Migration and synchronization support for MySQL and OceanBase MySQL Mode OLTP instances are now extended to OceanBase OLAP instances.

Backup and recovery
- Supports physical restore at the database and table levels for OceanBase Database V4.X, providing multi-level data recovery capabilities to help users restore data as needed based on actual business scenarios.
- Supports offsite backup on AWS, Tencent Cloud, and Huawei Cloud, including cross-border and cross-region scenarios, primarily for auditing and disaster recovery requirements.
- In addition to point-in-time restore, added support for restoring data based on specified backup sets to improve user data recovery efficiency.
Diagnostics and automation
- SQL audit capability: Launched on Tencent Cloud and AWS, supporting user-defined SQL retention periods to meet auditing and tracking needs.
- Newly released the Optimization Center module, which supports analyzing SQL and structures within the database over a specific period and provides optimization suggestions based on OceanBase Cloud's diagnostic analysis.
- Real-time SQL diagnostics:
- For TOPSQL diagnostics, added comparison capabilities across different nodes.
- Newly supports high-risk SQL diagnostics.
- Improvements and upgrades in usability: supports monitoring and diagnostics linkage, supports initiating SQL diagnostics by dragging icons; for slow SQL, supports exposing sample SQL data; summarizes various common problematic SQL statements for quick selection; extended SQL diagnostic time range to 15 days.

Data migration
- Added support for dynamically adding or removing tables/databases during task execution, meeting users' needs to modify migration objects while the task is running.
- Supports database migration when the target is MySQL or OceanBase MySQL-compatible mode, avoiding migration failure due to the non-existence of the target database.
- Data migration tasks now filter standby cluster instances by default, preventing migration task interruptions caused by using standby cluster instances for migration synchronization.
Data import
- Provides data file import capability for OceanBase Oracle-compatible mode instances, supporting file formats including CSV and Insert SQL files; also supports importing sample data.
- Extended data file import capability for OceanBase MySQL-compatible mode instances, newly supporting Insert SQL, Apache Parquet, and Apache ORC format data files.
- Sample data import now supports a data size of up to 1GB, and additionally supports GBK encoding in addition to utf8.
- Improved data import functionality details, supporting the import of data files in multiple encoding formats, supporting format validation of data file content, and also providing the ability to automatically create target table structures based on data files.
Instance configuration
Automatic storage expansion: Supports setting automatic storage expansion strategies for cluster instances, helping you achieve elastic storage capacity expansion on the cloud after configuring the strategy, reducing operational costs.
Supports configuration across instance types: Building upon instance configuration, instance specifications on Huawei Cloud Joint Venture SaaS now also support reconfiguration across instances with different CPU-to-memory ratios (for example, reconfiguring from a 16C+32G specification to a 16C+70G specification).
Upgrade to database account permission settings
Supports finer-grained permission configuration, allowing permissions to be assigned to database accounts based on specific statement-level privileges.
Product integration
Added integration with Datadog, supporting monitoring of OceanBase Cloud cluster instances via Datadog.

Huawei Cloud Free Trial Edition
Users can now apply for a 30-day free trial of a Huawei Cloud tenant instance (1 vCPU, 4 GiB memory) on OceanBase Cloud, experiencing features such as database management, account management, instance monitoring, SQL diagnostics, parameter management, security settings (allowlist), SQL console, data import, and Binlog services.
Organization permissions
OceanBase Cloud provides you with organization and project management capabilities. You can manage members within the organization and assign different permissions based on actual business needs, allowing them to participate in the management and maintenance of one or more projects.

Ecosystem integration
A new "Ecosystem Integration" page has been added, featuring a curated selection of popular open-source and commercial products covering multiple categories such as data integration, SQL development, visualization, and orchestration and scheduling.

Data migration
Building an integrated migration process
OceanBase Cloud has redesigned the data migration module, providing users with a one-stop service of compatibility assessment -> data migration -> performance assessment based on user workflows, helping users migrate their business to OceanBase smoothly and efficiently.
New quick entry for data migration
The tenant console under an OceanBase Cloud cluster instance provides a quick entry for data migration. Users can quickly open the data migration interface through this entry and fill in target information. By configuring the data source, users can conveniently perform data migration for the corresponding tenant.
New data source saving capability
Supports saving the corresponding data source connection information when configuring compatibility assessment, data migration, and performance assessment as needed. This meets the requirement for reusing data sources in subsequent related tasks and allows sharing between "Compatibility Assessment", "Data Migration", and "Performance Assessment" tasks.
SQL console
This update adds SQL console capabilities on the tenant details page. You can use the SQL console to perform operations such as database object management, SQL querying, and development, simplifying your database management workflow. The SQL console provides the following features:
- Database Object Management: Supports creating and managing database objects, including tables, views, functions, stored procedures, etc.
- SQL Editing and Execution: Supports editing and executing SQL statements for SQL development.
- Result Set Editing and Copying: Supports editing, sorting, filtering, adding, deleting, and copying the execution results of SQL statements.

Data import
- The data import module now supports importing sample datasets. You can import TPC-H and TPC-DS sample datasets of 128 MB or 25 MB for an OceanBase MySQL instance.
- The data import module now supports OBS and COS cloud storage types. Currently, it can read data from four types of cloud storage: OSS, S3, OBS, and COS.
Instance configuration
This update introduces the capability to configure cluster instances. You can now add or delete nodes and adjust compute and storage specifications for pay-as-you-go cluster instances, enabling scaling up and down of cluster instances.
