Evan Yang

Evan Yang serves as the CEO of OceanBase, Ant Group's self-developed distributed relational database. He is an ardent advocate for driving innovation and development through technology. Under his leadership, the team is dedicated to developing a distributed database with an integrated architecture designed to handle mission-critical workloads, constantly pushing the industry to new levels. OceanBase offers enterprises high availability, high performance, cost-effective, and scalable database services. Evan Yang joined Alipay in 2009 and was a core member and technical leader of the Ant Group’s middleware team. He is one of the core contributors to Ant Group's self-developed technologies and has led and participated in the company’s technological iterations implemented for the 11.11 Global Shopping Festival. He also spearheaded the establishment of Ant Group’s financial-grade cloud-native platform for external customers, while driving the comprehensive rollout of the company’s financial technologies to enterprise clients.

Dr. Yang received his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Mathematics at Peking University and became a faculty member after he acquired his doctorate in computer science at the university. Dr. Yang has been engaging in the research on distributed systems and distributed databases over the past few years. In 2010, he initiated the research and development of the distributed relational database OceanBase Database in Ant Group.

Yang Chuanhui joined the OceanBase team in 2010 as one of the founding members. He led OceanBase's architecture design and technology upgrades, and nurtured OceanBase Database to its full blossom in Ant Group. He is also the author of Large-scale Distributed Storage Systems: Theory Analysis and Practical Framework. Yang is determined to lead the OceanBase team in making the next-generation enterprise-level distributed database more open, flexible, efficient, and easier to use.
