OceanBase Database is a distributed relational database developed by Ant Group. It has been supporting the Double 11 Shopping Festival for 11 years and is also the only distributed database in the world that has refreshed both TPC-C and TPC-H records. It has set forth a new standard of city-level disaster recovery solutions with five IDCs across three sites. OceanBase Database adopts an independently developed integrated architecture, which encompasses both the scalability of a distributed architecture and the performance advantage of a centralized architecture. OceanBase Database supports hybrid transaction/analytical processing (HTAP) with one engine. With features such as strong data consistency, high availability, high performance, online scalability, high compatibility with SQL and mainstream relational databases, transparency to applications, and a high cost/performance ratio, OceanBase Database has helped over 1000 customers across industries upgrade their core systems.

Evan Yang serves as the CEO of OceanBase, Ant Group's self-developed distributed relational database. He is an ardent advocate for driving innovation and development through technology. Under his leadership, the team is dedicated to developing a distributed database with an integrated architecture designed to handle mission-critical workloads, constantly pushing the industry to new levels. OceanBase offers enterprises high availability, high performance, cost-effective, and scalable database services. Evan Yang joined Alipay in 2009 and was a core member and technical leader of the Ant Group’s middleware team. He is one of the core contributors to Ant Group's self-developed technologies and has led and participated in the company’s technological iterations implemented for the 11.11 Global Shopping Festival. He also spearheaded the establishment of Ant Group’s financial-grade cloud-native platform for external customers, while driving the comprehensive rollout of the company’s financial technologies to enterprise clients.

Dr. Yang received his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Mathematics at Peking University and became a faculty member after he acquired his doctorate in computer science at the university. Dr. Yang has been engaging in the research on distributed systems and distributed databases over the past few years. In 2010, he initiated the research and development of the distributed relational database OceanBase Database in Ant Group.

Yang Chuanhui joined the OceanBase team in 2010 as one of the founding members. He led OceanBase's architecture design and technology upgrades, and nurtured OceanBase Database to its full blossom in Ant Group. He is also the author of Large-scale Distributed Storage Systems: Theory Analysis and Practical Framework. Yang is determined to lead the OceanBase team in making the next-generation enterprise-level distributed database more open, flexible, efficient, and easier to use.

Released verion 4.0. Announced OceanBase Cloud.
Open sourced the kernel code base on GitHub. Topped the TPC-H benchmark test with 15.26 million QphH@30000GB. Served over 400 customers across the globe and customers from non-financial services sector contributed to over 30% of revenue, demonstrating that OceanBase has become a general purpose database.
Independently operated as a company; ran the TPC-C benchmark test for a second time with a result of 707 million tpmC.
Topped the TPC-C benchmark test with a result of 60.88 million tpmC, which was a new world record. In the same year, OceanBase steadily supported 61 million QPS during Double 11 at peak time.
Officially went to the market for coemmercial use and Bank of Nanjing was the first commercial customer outside of Ant Group. In the same year, OceanBase steadily supported 42 million QPS during Double 11 at peak time.
Applied in accounting and payment systems in, dealing with 120,000 payment transactions per sec and 175,000 TPS at peak time. This is the first time a distributed database was used in accounting systems.
Fully support Double 11 traffic. In the same year OceanBase was adpoted by MYBank, the internet banking institue of Ant Group. This is the first time a distributed relational database was used in mission critical tasks in banking systems.
Applied in Alipay for mission critical tasks and supported 10% of the Double 11 traffic that year, realizing zero RPO and RTO<30s.
Officially applied in e-commerce scenarios, serving dozens of business systems of Alibaba e-commerce platforms.
