This topic describes the specifications and billing rules for OceanBase Cloud database proxy services.
Specifications
Database proxy services include General mode and Exclusive mode.

Exclusive mode for database proxy services is an allowlist feature. Contact OceanBase Cloud technical support if you need to use this feature.
General mode
General mode shares computing resources with other users. OceanBase Cloud allocates corresponding database proxy specifications based on the instance CPU cores, suitable for scenarios with relatively fixed and average traffic. OceanBase Cloud provides General mode database proxy services free of charge.
The maximum database proxy specification you can use is 1/4 of the total CPU cores of the database instance × the number of full-featured replicas.
Exclusive mode
Exclusive mode uses dedicated CPU resources, providing more stable and reliable performance compared to General mode. Exclusive mode supports larger configuration sizes, allowing you to flexibly adjust database proxy resource specifications based on business requirements. It is particularly suitable for high-concurrency, high-traffic business scenarios.
Exclusive mode billing
Cloud Provider: Currently only supports Alibaba Cloud. Other cloud providers and regions are being gradually enabled.
Billing Formula: Database proxy service total cost = Database proxy CPU unit price × Database proxy single zone CPU cores × Number of full-featured replica zones × Duration, where the number of zones is 2 for dual-IDC deployment and 3 for three-IDC deployment. Adding read-only replicas currently does not increase the database proxy zone coefficient.
Maximum Connections: By default, each database proxy endpoint supports up to 5,000 connections. When you create a database instance and create one tenant, one primary endpoint is automatically created for you, which supports up to 5,000 connections by default. Contact technical support if you need to support more connections.

Billing example
For example, a database instance in Singapore uses dual-IDC deployment (2F1A), with Exclusive mode database proxy, single zone specification of 8 cores 16 GiB, and actual usage duration of 24 hours:
Database proxy total cost = 0.14 USD/hour per core × 8 cores × 2 full-featured zones × 24 hours = USD 53.76
