tab Create an instance on the OceanBase Cloud console
Procedure
Follow these steps to purchase an instance:
Log in to the OceanBase Cloud console.
On the Instances page, click Create Instance.
On the Create Instance page, select the instance type as Dedicated (Key-Value).
Select your cloud vendor and the deployment region. OceanBase Cloud now supports to select AWS as the cloud vendor.
Select your instance specifications.
Parameter Description Instance Name Set the instance name. The name must be 2 to 64 characters in length and can contain only Chinese characters, digits, uppercase and lowercase letters, underscores, and hyphens. Storage Architecture - Shared Nothing: The computing resources and data storage are in the same node. Data is locally processed on the computing node. This reduces the overheads of data transmission and improves the computing efficiency. The architecture is simple and easy to maintain.
- Shared Storage: This cloud-native architecture separates storage and computing in an instance by using multiple computing nodes and shared storage technology. The separated layers of computing and storage resources allow independent scaling and improve cost-effectiveness and flexibility.
Version The version of OceanBase Database. Currently, V4.2.1 and V4.3.5 are supported. Deployment Mode - Single-IDC Deployment: All nodes are located within the same zone. This deployment supports one-node, two-node, and three-node configurations within a single IDC.
Note
- If you require this setup, please contact OceanBase technical support.
- Only when you purchase through AWS Marketplace and select V4.0.0 for Version, the one-node configuration is supported.
- Dual-IDC Deployment: Two nodes are deployed across two zones, with a third node deployed in a different zone solely for log synchronization. This node does not provide read/write services. Dual-IDC deployment offers the same availability as multi-IDC deployment but with significantly improved cost efficiency. The dual-IDC deployment option is supported in versions 4.1.0.0 and later.
- Multi-IDC Deployment: Primary and standby nodes are located in different zones, enabling disaster recovery across zones. This deployment comes at no additional cost and by default, all three zones are selected.
Zone Select the target zone. You can select the zone with the lowest network latency by using View Network Latency. - Single-IDC deployment: Select one zone.
- Dual-IDC deployment: Select two zones.
- Multi-IDC deployment: Select three zones.
Compute Supports five compute specifications: 4 cores 16 GiB, 8 cores 16 GiB, 16 cores 32 GiB, 32 cores 70 GiB, and 64 cores 180 GiB. Note
The 4 cores 16 GiB and 64 cores 400 GiB specifications are currently only available to whitelisted users. If you need to purchase either of these two specifications, please contact OceanBase technical support.
Storage The storage specifications vary by compute specifications. Select the storage specification as needed. For more information, see Instance billing. Specify the number of instances you want to create in the Quantity section.
In the Summary section on the right, review the configurations and then click Create Instance to complete the purchase.
The deployment is estimated to take 1 hour. You can check the creation progress on the Instances page.
tab Create an instance through Azure Marketplace
Prerequisites
- You have registered for a Microsoft account and bound a credit card. For more information, see Purchase a SaaS offer in the Azure portal.
Procedure

Note
At present, only instances purchased through Alibaba Cloud and Huawei Cloud support the Shared Storage Architecture. The database version is V4.3.5.
Database Version The version of OceanBase Database. Instances created through Azure Marketplace only support OceanBase V4.4.x.
