This topic describes how to use the rename validation object feature provided by data validation.
Scenarios
By default, the name of the validation table object is the same in the source and the target. You can use the rename validation object feature to specify the name of the validation object in the target, thereby mapping the database names and table names between the source and the target. This feature is commonly used in scenarios where the naming conventions differ between test environments and production environments, or when aggregating data from multiple tables.
Limitations
Data validation supports renaming objects only when you configure a data validation task and reach the step where you select the object type and object.
Do not rename objects after you start a data validation task. Otherwise, the task may fail.
Procedure
Configure the data validation task to the Select Type & Objects step and select the object in the Select Objects section.
For more information about how to configure a data validation task, see Create a validation task.
After you select the validation object, click the Rename icon that appears next to the target table object in the right-side list.
Enter the new name for the target object and click ✅.
Complete the remaining configuration steps as prompted.
