OceanBase Cloud supports restoring backup data to a new instance by creating a new instance. The ability to initiate a restore is limited by the backup strategy. When the backup strategy is disabled, you cannot perform the restore operation.
Background information
When initiating a restore task, if you want to restore the data of instance A at a specific time to instance B, then A is the source instance and B is the target instance.
Procedure
Log in to the OceanBase Cloud console.
In the left-side navigation pane, click Instances and select the instance for which you want to restore data.
On the instance workspace page, click Backup in the left-side navigation pane.
Click Restore in the upper-right corner of the page to go to the restore page.
Select the restore method.
ParameterDescriptionRestore Method Select whether to restore by backup set or by point-in-time. - If you choose to restore by backup set, you must select a backup set for the restore source.
- If you choose to restore by point-in-time, you must select a restorable point-in-time for the restore source.
Select the instance type.
ParameterDescriptionInstance Type Select the type of instance to create. Currently, only analytical cluster instances are supported. Select the cloud service provider and region.
ParameterDescriptionCloud Service Provider Currently, Huawei Cloud and AWS are supported. Region The region defaults to the same as the source instance and cannot be modified. Select the instance configuration.

ParameterDescriptionNumber of Purchases The number of instances to purchase. The default value is 1 and cannot be modified. In the Summary section, check whether your parameter configurations and the number of instances to purchase are correct. After verification, agree to the service agreement and click Create Instance and Initiate Restore.
After you initiate the restore, you will be redirected to the instance list page, where you can view the running status of the target instance.
View a restore task
You can view the manually initiated restore task on the Data Restore tab. The task status includes Starting, Running, Success, Failed, and Expired.
