This topic describes how to enable storage auto-scaling for an instance.
Background information
If your business involves a large amount of data or your business volume fluctuates frequently, we recommend that you enable the storage auto-scaling feature. When the storage space is about to overflow, the instance can automatically scale up the storage space to ensure the stability of your online business.
The storage auto-scaling feature applies only to the full-featured replica data disks.
The system checks the space usage on a minute-by-minute basis. When the available storage space is less than or equal to the set value, the system automatically triggers the scaling. This operation can be enabled or disabled at any time after the instance is created.
Note
Enabling the storage auto-scaling feature will not affect your business. To ensure the stability of your business, we recommend that you perform the operation during off-peak hours.
Prerequisites
Only project admins can perform instance reconfiguration. Before you enable the storage auto-scaling feature, make sure that the following conditions are met:
The instance is billed on a pay-as-you-go basis.
The cloud service provider is not Amazon Web Services (AWS).
The instance is in the running state.
All tenants in the instance are in the running state.
The instance storage type is cloud disk.
Procedure
Log in to the OceanBase Cloud console.
In the left-side navigation pane, click Instances.
On the instance list page, click the name of the target instance to go to the Overview page of the instance.
On the right side of the topology section, click Set Storage Auto-scaling.
In the dialog box that appears, enable the storage auto-scaling switch, and configure the following parameters. Click OK.
Parameter Parameter Description Available storage in normal hours The percentage of available storage that triggers storage auto-scaling in normal hours. The default value is 10%. Valid values: 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, and 30%. Available storage in major compaction hours The percentage of available storage that triggers storage auto-scaling in major compaction hours. The default value is 5%. Valid values: 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, and 30%. Single node auto-scaling limit Set the auto-scaling limit based on your business needs. If the storage auto-scaling reaches the limit you set, auto-scaling will fail. Note
The minimum value of this parameter is 130% of the current storage usage or the minimum storage of the current specifications of the instance, whichever is greater. The maximum value of this parameter is the maximum storage allowed for the current specifications of the instance.
Auto-scaling increment per adjustment Auto-scaling can be performed based on Fixed Size or Percentage. By default, Fixed Size is selected. - Fixed Size: The default value is 50 GiB. The value ranges from 50 GiB to 1000 GiB at a 50 GiB increment.
- Percentage: The default value is 10%. Valid values: 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, and 50%.
Note
After storage auto-scaling is enabled, it will be triggered under specific conditions, and the instance will be marked with "Auto" in the instance list.
