This topic describes how to enable automatic forwarding of standby write requests.
Background information
After you enable automatic forwarding of standby write requests, write requests sent to the private primary endpoint of a standby instance are automatically forwarded to the primary instance, while read requests continue to access the standby instance.
Note
Automatic forwarding of standby write requests is supported only in OceanBase Database V4.2.4 and later.
Prerequisites
- You have administrator permissions on the current primary and standby instances.
- The primary and standby instances are deployed with the same cloud vendor.
- Tenants in the primary and standby instances have created private endpoints. For more information, see Configure network connection.
Procedure
Log in to the OceanBase Cloud console.
In the left-side navigation pane, click Instances.
In the instance list, find the target standby instance and click the instance name to go to the Overview page of the instance.
In the left-side navigation pane, click Tenants.
In the tenant list, find the target tenant and click the tenant name to go to the Overview page of the tenant.
On the right side of the Topology Diagram of the tenant overview page, find the Automatic Write Forwarding switch and enable or disable this feature.
Note
- This feature must be enabled or disabled in the standby instance. You can view the status of this feature on the tenant overview page of the primary instance, but you cannot directly enable or disable it from there. After you enable this feature, write requests sent to the standby instance are automatically forwarded to the primary instance, while read requests continue to be processed by the standby instance.
In the dialog box, click OK to enable automatic forwarding for write requests of standby databases.
