In addition to scheduled backups, OceanBase Database allows you to manually initiate an immediate data backup. You can initiate an immediate backup regardless of the backup strategy.
Note
- By default, OceanBase Database performs one major compaction per day. However, a high business write load may trigger multiple major compactions. Only one data backup can succeed after each major compaction. If a data backup succeeds, any subsequent backup initiated before the next major compaction will be reported as failed.
- Manual backups apply only to data backups and do not affect log backup tasks.
Notice
Backing up data may affect database performance. We recommend that you perform backups outside peak business hours.
Background information
A physical backup exports the physical files of OceanBase Database, including baseline data and archived logs. If a database failure occurs, you can use these files to restore the database.
Procedure
Log in to the OceanBase Cloud console.
In the left navigation pane, click Instances.
In the instance list, find the target instance, click the instance name, and go to the Overview.
In the left navigation pane, click Backup.
In the upper-right corner of the page, click Create Backup.
On the Create Backup page, configure the following settings.
ParameterDescriptionBackup Object Currently fixed as Tenant, indicating a physical backup will be performed on this tenant. Select Tenants Select the target tenant to back up. Backup Method Currently fixed as Physical Backup. Backup Storage Settings You can back up data to OceanBase Cloud storage. Click OK to perform the immediate backup.
What to do next
On the Data Backup tab, view the basic information of the manually created backup task. You can check the task progress through the progress percentage.
