This topic describes how to initiate a unit migration in the instance overview page.
Background information
In OceanBase Cloud, a unit is a collection of physical resources such as CPU, memory, storage space, and IOPS. It is used to describe and manage the physical resource allocation of database services. Specifically, a unit has the following characteristics:
A unit is a collection of physical resources such as CPU, memory, storage space, and IOPS.
In a multi-tenant scenario, each tenant can configure different unit resources based on business needs, achieving resource isolation and effective utilization.
A unit is the basic unit for resource scheduling. OceanBase Cloud supports adjusting unit allocation based on real-time load conditions to optimize resource usage efficiency.
A unit has location attributes such as node, zone, and region. This allows for geographically dispersed deployment, enhancing service availability and disaster recovery capabilities.
Prerequisites
Before initiating a unit migration, make sure the following conditions are met:
The target instance has a node distribution of 2-2-2 or higher.
The target instance is running.
The target instance has at least one tenant.
The target tenant is running.
Procedure
Log in to the OceanBase Cloud console.
In the left-side navigation pane, click Instances.
In the instance list, find the target instance, click its name, and go to the instance overview page.
In the topology diagram area, hover over the unit card and click Initiate Migration.
In the pop-up window, select the target node and click OK to initiate the migration.
Note
- An instance that has initiated a migration task cannot initiate another unit migration task within 15 minutes.
- During the migration, it is not recommended to modify the specification of any tenant in the instance.
