Create a database

This topic describes how to create a database in an instance.

Procedure

You can create an account by using any of the following methods:

• Method 1: Log in to the OceanBase Cloud console. On the Overview page of the instance, click Create Account in the upper-right corner.

• Method 2: Log in to the OceanBase Cloud console. On the Accounts page, click Create Account in the upper-right corner.

The following procedure demonstrates how to use Method 1.

1. Log in to the OceanBase Cloud console.

2. On the instance list page, click the name of the target instance to navigate to the instance overview page.

3. On the instance overview page, click Create Database in the upper-right corner.

4. Configure the following parameters as needed.

   Parameter	Description
   Database Name	It must start with a letter and consist of letters, digits, underscores, or hyphens. Certain reserved keywords, such as test, sys, oceanbase, information_schema, mysql, performance_schema, cannot be used.
   Character Set	The character set to be used in the database, which can be UTF8MB4 or GBK.
   Remarks (Optional)	The remarks on the database, which cannot exceed 30 characters in length.

5. Click Create.
