This topic provides an overview of the usage restrictions and the steps for creating a standby instance for an Alibaba Cloud primary instance.
Prerequisites
Before creating a standby instance, ensure the following conditions are met:
- You have the required permissions to create an AccessKey (AK) in Alibaba Cloud.
- You have an Alibaba Cloud primary instance running version 4.2.1.7 or higher.
- Your current OceanBase Cloud account role is Project Admin.
Procedure
Log in to the OceanBase Cloud console.
On the Instances page, select ... > Create Alibaba Cloud Standby Instance next to the Create Instance button.
If you do not have the authorization from Alibaba Cloud, the pop-up dialog box Alibaba Cloud Account Authorization will appear. In the pop-up dialog, complete the necessary information to obtain the authorization.
Alibaba Cloud Account ID: Navigate to the Alibaba Cloud console, and hover over your avatar in the top right corner of the page to find your Alibaba Cloud account ID.
Alibaba Cloud Account AccessKey ID and Alibaba Cloud Account AccessKey Secret: Navigate to the RAM Console in Alibaba Cloud and use an existing AccessKey ID/Secret or create a new one.
Click OK.
After the authorization is successful, in the Create Alibaba Cloud Standby Instance dialog box, select the primary instance for which you want to create a standby instance.
Note
Each primary instance can only have 1 standby instance.
Click Create Standby Instance, and you will be directed to the Create Standby Instance page. The database version, deployment mode, and compute specifications will automatically match those of the primary instance.
Select the storage specifications. The storage for the standby instance must be equal to or greater than that of the primary instance.
Review the instance configurations and quantity. After confirming, place your order. You can then return to the instance list to view your newly created instance.
