OceanBase Cloud Platform (OCP) allows you to restart an OBServer node on the graphic user interface (GUI).
Note
Currently, OceanBase Database does not support restarting an OBServer node by using command lines.
Prerequisites
The target cluster can be managed in the current OCP cluster.
If the cluster has not been added to OCP, request the administrator to add the cluster. For more information, see "Take over a cluster" in the OCP User Guide of the corresponding version.
You have the permissions to manage the cluster.
If you do not have the permissions to manage the cluster, request the administrator to assign the required role. For more information, see "Edit a user" in the OCP User Guide of the corresponding version.
Considerations
If the OBServer node to be restarted hosts the only full-featured replica of a tenant, we recommend that you restart the OBServer node during night hours when the business traffic is low.
Background
Restarting an OBServer node is equivalent to restarting a cluster node. When an OBServer node is restarted in the OCP console, the following operations are performed:
Execute the
ALTER SYSTEM STOP SERVERstatement. After the statement is executed, the system switches the partition leader on the node to other nodes and stops the node from providing external services.
Stop the observer process.
Start the observer process.
Execute the
ALTER SYSTEM START SERVERstatement.
Procedure
Log on to the OCP console.
The Clusters page automatically appears.
In the Clusters list, find the target cluster and click its name to go to the Overview page of the cluster.
In the OBServers list, click Restart in the Actions column of the OBServer node that you want to restart.

In the dialog box that appears, select whether to force restart the node.
In regular restart, the system checks whether the target OBServer node meets the restart conditions. If not, the OBServer node cannot be restarted. This way, your business is not interrupted.
If the OBServer node does not host businesses, you can choose to force restart. Otherwise, we recommend that you do not choose to force restart.
Click Restart.
You can click View Task in the dialog box that appears to view the progress.
You can also choose System Management > Tasks to view the progress of the task.
When the task status is Completed, and the status of the OBServer node is Running in the OBServers list on the Overview page, the OBServer node is restarted.
