OceanBase Cloud Platform (OCP) allows you to restart a node on the graphic user interface (GUI).
Prerequisites
The target cluster can be managed in the current OCP cluster.
If the cluster has not been added to OCP, contact the administrator to add the cluster to OCP. For more information, see the "Take over a cluster" topic in OCP User Guide of the corresponding version.
You have the privileges to manage the cluster.
If you do not have the privileges to manage the cluster, contact the administrator to obtain the required privileges. For more information, see the "Edit a user" topic in OCP User Guide of the corresponding version.
Considerations
If the target node includes the unique full-featured replicas of a tenant, we recommend that you perform the restart at nighttime or when the business traffic is low.
Background
To restart a node in OCP, perform the following steps:
Execute the
ALTER SYSTEM STOP SERVERstatement. After the statement is executed, the system switches the partition leader on the node to other nodes and stops the node from providing external services.
Stop the observer process.
Start the observer process.
Execute the
ALTER SYSTEM START SERVERstatement.
Procedure
Log on to the OCP console.
The Clusters page automatically appears.
In the Clusters list on this page, find the target cluster and click its name to go to the Overview page of the cluster.
In the OBServers list, click Restart in the Actions column of the OBServer node that you want to restart.
In the dialog box that appears, select whether to force restart the node.
In a regular restart, the system checks whether the target node meets the restart conditions. If not, the node cannot be restarted. In this way, your services are not interrupted.
If the node does not provide services, you can force restart it. Otherwise, we recommend that you do not choose a force restart.
Click Restart.
You can click View Task in the dialog box that appears to view the progress.
You can also choose System Management > Tasks to view the progress of the task.
When the task status is Completed, and the status of the node is Running in the OBServers list on the Overview page, the node is restarted.
