This topic describes how to block an alert.
Background
Topics View an alert event and View the alert notification history describe how to block alerts on the Alert Events and Notification History tabs. However, these methods only allow you to block alerts that have been reported, and you can only specify the duration for blocking these alerts.
This topic describes how to create a blocking condition. It is a more flexible method that allows you to block alerts before they are generated. After a blocking condition is created, the system starts to block alerts based on the condition. If the blocking condition does not take effect immediately, wait for another 30 seconds.
When you run a maintenance task on an OceanBase cluster, alerts are automatically blocked.
Procedure
Log on to the OceanBase Cloud Platform (OCP) console.
In the left-side navigation pane, choose System Management > Alerts .
On the Alert Blocking tab, click Create Blocking Condition .
Configure the blocking condition in the Create Blocking Condition dialog box.
Field Description Source - OceanBase: The source of the alert is OceanBase Database.
- Application: The source of the alert is another application, such as OCP or OBProxy.
Cluster/Application Different fields are displayed based on the source you selected. - When the source is OceanBase , you must select the cluster to block in the Cluster drop-down list.
- When the source is Application , you must select the application to block in the Application drop-down list. If the selected application is OBProxy, you must also select the OBProxy cluster to block.
Blocking Scope Specify the blocking scope as needed. Valid values: All, Tenant, and Server Different options are displayed based on the previous two fields that you specified. Tenant/Server If you set Blocking Scope to Tenant , tenants are displayed, and you must select the tenants to block. If you set Blocking Scope to Server , servers are displayed, and you must select the servers to block. Alert Item Select one or more alert items to block. End Time Specify an end time for the blocking condition. The blocked alerts will not be reported until the end time. This field is required. - Click the End Time field to select the end time.
- You can also click a time next to the End Time field. For example, if you click 6 Hours , the system enters the time six hours later than the current time to the End Time field.
Daily Block Period You can toggle on the Daily Block Period switch, and specify the start time and end time. The system blocks the alerts during the specified period every day. 
Click OK .
The system returns the Blocking Condition list, which contains the newly created condition.
All alert blocking rules are displayed on the Blocking Condition list. By default, the alert-blocking rules created by the logged-on user who are displayed.
Note
- After an alert blocking condition is created, it may need up to 30 seconds to take effect.
- An alert blocking condition is archived seven days after its end time. Archived conditions are no longer displayed in the Blocking Condition list.
