Incorrect user password

This topic describes errors related to an incorrect user password and the troubleshooting procedure.

Error: ERROR 1045 (42000)

Error message

ERROR 1045 (42000): Access denied for user 'NY'@'xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx' (using password: YES)

Example

When you log on as the ny user but enter an incorrect password, this error is returned.

Troubleshooting procedure

1. Log on as the SYS user.

   [admin@k08j13249.eu95sqa /home/admin]
   $obclient -h10.0.0.0 -P2881 -usys@Oracle -p -A
   Enter password:
   Welcome to the OceanBase.  Commands end with ; or \g.
   Your OceanBase connection id is 3221584568

2. Modify the password of the ny user.

   obclient> ALTER USER ny IDENTIFIED BY ******;
   Query OK, 0 rows affected
   

3. Log on as the ny user again.

   [admin@k08j13249.eu95sqa /home/admin]
   $obclient -hxx.xx.xx.xx -P2881 -uny@Oracle -p -A
   Enter password:
   Welcome to the OceanBase.  Commands end with ; or \g.
